On a weekend lawn, Chen Mo twisted his fingers slightly on the remote control, and the palm-sized flying motorcycle drone hummed and lifted off the ground. Its silver-gray body was a scaled-down replica of a classic motorcycle, with tiny wheels even etched with simulated textures. The propellers, hidden under the seat, emitted faint blue glimmers when activated.
With a gentle push on the lever, the flying motorcycle glided immediately along the tips of the grass. When it encountered a stone, it automatically lifted up, like an agile mechanical hummingbird. A dog in the distance was drawn to it and chased after it for a few steps. Chen Mo smiled and flipped the direction key—the motorcycle suddenly swerved left, circling around the dog’s tail and making the dog spin in place. Sunlight filtered through the leaves and fell on the drone’s body, where the metallic shell reflected tiny specks of light; even the mini rearview mirrors on the handlebars were clearly visible.
When guiding it over a small stream, Chen Mo deliberately lowered its altitude. The flying motorcycle glided close to the water surface, splashing water droplets that clung to its body, yet not affecting its stability at all. He pressed the stunt button, and the motorcycle suddenly spun twice on the spot before landing steadily on a rock by the stream. Its propellers slowed to a stop, as if it had just finished a thrilling off-road race.
As the sun set in the west, Chen Mo retrieved the flying motorcycle. His fingertips touched the body, still carrying a slight residual warmth. This tiny mechanical silver wing, though lacking the grandeur of manned flight, used its nimble movements to add a touch of racing joy to every ordinary afternoon, within this small corner of the world.
